Halton police have laid multiple charges after two suspects were found in possession of a car in Hamilton that was stolen in Burlington in mid-January.

On Thursday evening officers attempted to stop the stolen Toyota 4Runner on Parkdale Avenue North when the male driver of the car sped off and collided with two police vehicles.

He continued driving north on Main Street and lost control of the car at Strathearne Avenue.

The man and a female passenger then attempted to flee the police on foot.

Steven Costello, 41, was apprehended a short distance away and Natalie Campbell, 24, was taken into custody later. Both are of no fixed address. No further suspects are being sought.

The recovered car had been reported stolen from Burlington on Jan.13

Both suspects have been charged with possession of property obtained by crime. Costello was also charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from police, as well as failing to comply with probation.

Costello and Campbell have been held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.
