A 40-year old Welland woman whose dogs were killed in an horrific hit and run crash last week is in stable condition tonight in hospital.
Thursday evening Sandra Douglas had Syress and her other dog Sasha in the back seat of her Toyota Echo. She was stopped at red light when a speeding Taurus came from behind and slammed into the back her car. The Toyota was pushed into oncoming traffic and the dogs were killed instantly. Sandra now lies in a hospital bed with multiple fractures and lacerated organs.
Police say the driver of the Taurus that hit them tried to speed off but then slammed into a hydro pole. He then got out and fled on foot, he was arrested at his house. 57 year old John Kish of Welland is facing numerous charges.
