Canadian Muslim Fears for His Life

The Muslim anger that’s swept through the middle east this month erupted here in southern Ontario today.

Hundreds of Muslims demonstrated in front of the U.S. Consulate in Toronto this afternoon over the controversial film by an American group mocking the Prophet Mohammad. Protestors say the Americans are still creating a culture of Muslim bashing.The United States says has condemned the film, but says it can’t stop it from being shown because of free speech. But at the same time, a Canadian man says he’s been falsely targeted by Muslims accused the federal government of not doing enough to protect him. Nader Fawzy went to a police station in Toronto to ask for protection for him and his family. He’s afraid an edict issued by Muslim clerics could be a death sentence. Egyptian authorities accuse him of involvement in the anti-Mohammad film. Fawzy says he had nothing to do with the film and the Egyptians are trying to take revenge because he spoke out against human rights abuses of Coptic Christians in Egypt. He’s also outraged that the federal government said he should keep quiet while they work behind the scenes. Fawry said, “I’m not here to seal my lips. I’m here to talk as everyone on canadian soil has right to free speech.”
