Canadian Forces technician dies

A search and rescue technician from ‘8 Wing Trenton’ has died.

Lieutenant-General Andre Deschamps issued a statement early Friday, saying 34 year old Sergeant Janick Gilbert died Thursday night while on a rescue mission in Nunavut.

He was from Quebec.

Deschamps says Sergeant Gilbert died while answering the call for help, but did not release any more details.

During that same mission, two other people were rescued.

An investigation is currently underway.
