Canada’s Women’s soccer team nominations

18 women soccer players are nominated to represent Canada in the upcoming Summer Olympics have been announced.
Canada’s Women’s National Soccer Team qualified for the RIO 2016 Olympic Games at the 2016 Women’s Olympic Qualifying Championship in Texas back in February, earning it’s 3rd consecutive Olympic Berth in women’s soccer.
The Olympic bronze medallists, will be facing Australia, Zimbabwe, and Germany in Group F of the Rio 2016 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament.
The Rio 2016 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament runs August 3-19 in cities throughout Brazil. The quarterfinals are on August 12; the semi-finals are on August 16; both the bronze and gold medal matches are on August 19.
Some of those women who are nominated, include Christine Sinclair from Burnaby, B.C. And local players like Melissa Tancredi from Ancaster, Diana Matheson from Oakville and Sabrina D’Angelo from Welland, .
The team will be coached by John Herdman from Consett, U.K.
All nominations are still subject for approval by the Canadian Olympic Committee’s Team Selection Committee.
Canada is expecting to field a team of more than 315 athletes at Rio 2016.
