Canada Post is coming off of its worst year ever, recording a $1.57 million loss in 2025 before taxes.
The Crown Corporation attributes the loss to “decades-old rules and frameworks [which] continued to impede the company’s modernization and its ability to compete.”
It says this is why it is shifting four million more addresses to community mailboxes in the next five years.
Canada Post says labour uncertainty is partially responsible for declining parcel volumes which have driven revenues down.
The company’s 55,000 employees are set to vote on a new five-year contract at the end of May. Union leadership is currently divided on whether to support it.
