The federal and provincial governments are teaming up to invest over $5 million into three culture and recreation projects in Hamilton.

The Ontario government is investing $2.5 million, while the Canadian government is adding $3.1 million.

It’s all part of the Community, Culture and Recreation Infrastructure Stream (CCRIS) of the Investing in Canada plan. The recipients will be contributing more than $1.8 million toward their respective projects.

The Ancaster Fairgrounds will be expanded to make room for larger events, fairs and concerts. The Ancaster Agricultural Society building will be heated so they can host events year round.

A 2,600 square foot addition will also be added to the Hamilton Children’s Museum.

Dundas Valley School of Art will also be getting a face-lift to create a safer, more accessible learning environment for students and staff.

The government says these projects will support multiple social, cultural and recreational activities for people in Hamilton.
