Busy travel weekend as Canadians and Americans celebrate holidays

With Canada Day and U.S. Independence Day, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is reminding travellers to prepare for a busy travel weekend.
The CBSA is asking travellers to plan ahead by finding your port of entry if crossing the border. You can save time with advance declaration and by having your travel documents ready, knowing your exemption limits and being prepared to declare.

Hamilton’s John C. Munro Airport says it is constantly preparing for weekends like this one.
Executive managing director at Hamilton’s John C. Munro Airport said, “…some of the most recent things we’ve done is actually increased our screening capacity with a new fourth lane. So with that passengers can expect a quicker go through security. We’ve also expanded our washroom capacity, and most recently have added an online reservation system for our parking, so passengers can actually book their parking ahead of time before they come to the airport.”
If you plan on staying local this long weekend, there is no shortage of things to do. The “Oh Canada Ribfest” in Waterdown is taking place this weekend and it runs all weekend long. There is music, vendors, rides and ribs.
