Burlington motel fire

Officials say the fire that badly damaged a Burlington waterfront hotel was caused by squatters living in the building.

Burlington fire crews were called to the Riviera motel on Lakeshore Road around midnight on Friday.

The second storey of the abandoned building was engulfed in flames.

No one was hurt.

The motel is slated for demolition, so the Ontario Fire Marshal will not be investigating.
