Burlington man faces 18 charges in international child exploitation investigation

A 78-year-old Burlington man is facing 18 pornography and sex-related charges following an international investigation involving Halton police, the RCMP and authorities in the Philippines.

Halton police say the joint investigation began in April and on Thursday, officers arrested Douglas Ridpath.

He has been charged with 18 offences, including six counts of making child pornography, three counts of agreeing or arranging a sexual offence against a child, and two counts of sexual assault.

Ridpath remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims.
