Niagara OPP say one person has died after a six-vehicle collision on Highway 406 in Thorold.
Officers say the crash was caused by a car crossing over into the oncoming lanes which caused the death of the driver in the car that crossed over.
Police say the collision took place around 6:45 a.m. when a vehicle travelling in the southbound lanes crossed over into the northbound lanes.
The driver of the car, a 32-year-old man from St. Catharines, died as a result of the crash. The occupants of the other vehicles involved were left with minor injuries.
Both the northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 406 will be closed at Beaverdams Road until mid-afternoon as police continue their investigation.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and plan their commute accordingly.
