Hundreds of students turned out to take part in Brock University’s messiest tradition today, their annual Grape Stomp. It happens every year during grape and wine festival. As a Brock alumni, this year our Brittany Gogo decided to join in too.
Nearly a thousand Brock students came out to get their feet – and everything else – dirty.
Students have been grape-stomping on Brock’s campus for the last 15 years, it’s the biggest start of term ritual. “It’s a campus tradition, the messiest one that we have and it’s been recognized by University affairs as one of the top 10 traditions for students in Canada” says festival co-organizer Kristen Smith.
The university brings in more than 2 thousand pounds of grapes for this event and they are all purchased from a local farmer. Students stomped grapes, slid through the pulp, cheering as they got good and sticky – to show their school spirit
