Brantford police charge two girls over youth assault video

Brantford police have laid assault charges against two girls following an investigation into a youth assault video that circulated on social media.

Officers say they charged a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old girl with assault.

Investigators say they identified an 11-year-old boy who would have been charged in relation to the incident. However, under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, children under the age of 12 cannot be criminally charged.

Detectives say as this matter involves young people, no further information will be released.
