Booster seat clinic
The message was “booster seats save kids lives” at a safety clinic Friday being held by Hamilton Police, public health and McMaster Children’s Hospital.
The campaign focuses on 4 to 8 year olds, the targeted age group for the use of booster seats; and it’s sending out the message that seat belts are not enough.
Experts say many accident deaths could prevented if parents were more vigilant about using the devices.
Booster seat expert Anne Snowden said “Road crashes are the leading cause of death. We lose the equivalent of 3 classrooms of children in road crashes each year, so Friday’s clinic is about keeping children safe.”
Snowden says many parents stop using “boosters” because they give in to complaints from older kids who no longer want to use special car seats.
