The Book Thief

An adaptation of Mark Zuskas’ award winning novel of the same name , The Book Thief follows newly adopted Liesel as she navigates life in Nazi Germany during World War II. As the war worsens, Liesel finds a friend in Max, the young jewish man that her adoptive parents are hiding from the Nazis. Like her, he shares a love of literature.

The Book Thief marks the breakout role for French-Canadian actress Sophie Nélisse, who was first seen in 2011’s Monsieur Lazhar. Geoffrey Rush and Emily Watson co-star as Liesel’s adoptive parents while relative new comer Ben Schnetzer supports as Max.
