Blue Jays fans hoping for a win tonight

The Toronto Blue Jays will try to get back into the American League Championship Series tonight. The Jays are trailing the Kansas City Royals two games to none in the best of seven series.
It certainly wasn’t the way Jays fans saw the last two games going: “Game one was what is was, but we deserved that second game. We were up 3-0, I can’t believe what happened.”
Taking the hill for the jays tonight will be one of the heroes from game 5 of the last series, Marcus Stroman, whose confidence has passed on to the fans.
“Yeah, very confident, he’s the guy for the job, he has been throughout and I don’t think it’ll change tonight.”
“I am, he’s done really well for them once he came back from his injury, so here’s hoping.”
Gaby Jamieson is a server at Shoeless Joe’s in Burlington. On a normal night she’ll take home up to $200 in tips. On a Jays playoff night that number could more than double. “Working a Jays game is a lot better, we’re coming home with more money, the energy is great and makes it more fun for us to work here, it’s well-earned money.”
Erin Williams of Shoeless Joe’s adds, “after 22 years it’s bringing two generations together, fathers coming in with sons, mothers and children… It’s been fantastic, it’s really uniting a country.”
Tonight however, the Jays aren’t just going up against the Royals, but against the federal election as well. “We’re hoping the election won’t take away from our business tonight, most people get off work at 5-5:30, then have till 8 when the jays start to go vote.”
Whatever happens tonight, Jays fans we spoke to are behind their team. “It’s been incredible, you don’t expect it. When it comes and happens it’s unbelievable. You gotta take it game by game and hope they go the whole way.”
“It’s been really exciting. I’ve always been a Jays fan so it’s been nice seeing them go into the post season and have such a good second half of the season.”
Confidence is one thing, but the Jays can’t afford another late game implosion. First pitch is at 8:07.
