Blue Jays Care Foundation to donate $50K to Port Dover Minor Baseball

The Toronto Blue Jays and Jays Care Foundation will donate $50,000 to Port Dover Minor Baseball, as selected by the former Jays pitcher John Axford.

Jays Care is also donating a total of $300,000 to youth baseball organizations across the country in celebration of Canada Day and the team’s 50th season.

Port Dover Minor Baseball is one of six youth baseball organizations to receive a donation in Canada.

The donation will support field improvements at Port Dover Misner Park in Axford’s hometown.

“It’s always a great feeling to give back to the community where you’re from,” said Axford in a statement. “Port Dover is where I fell in love with the game and being able to support improvements to the field in my hometown is really special. I can’t thank the Blue Jays and Jays Care enough for this generous donation, it’s the perfect way to celebrate Canada Day and the 50th season.”

Jays Care has also selected to donate to: the Fredericton Minor Baseball Association; the Lambrick Park Baseball and Softball Academy; Kendal Minor Baseball in Ontario; Academie de Baseball du Canada and Baseball Canada; and to Baseball BC.
