Blaze Fire Academy in Halton offers second-career training

Fire departments in the Halton region are reaching out to age and experience to keep the community safe.
They’re hoping to benefit from the skills of people who move into firefighting as a second career. And they say those non-firefighting skills can be extremely valuable.
This program is designed to give the trainees a look at the different aspects of firefighting. They can go on from here to apply for firefighting jobs.
The program is aimed at people over 21. They say most people hired are 28 or older, with a retirement age of 60.
