Big LRT project

Now that the euphoria has passed the enormity of actually building an LRT system, the largest project ever for Hamilton, is coming into focus and with such a big project, there is always a reason to say no.
Tom Jackson, worries about business disruptions, during construction. Lloyd Ferguson chafes at the prospect of higher suburban taxes, for an inner-city project. And Terry Whitehead worries, that the enormous whirlpool of LRT construction, will pull other municipal projects down.
City Manager Chris Murray says that despite their concerns, all 3 councillors are behind the project, “they want to make sure that the needs of this entire community are going to be met, not just those in the lower city but every square inch of Hamilton.”
The city has 18 months to get preliminary planning and design work packaged and delivered to the province in order to get the project tendered, before the next provincial election.
