No stranger to genre films director Audrey Cummingsmakes her feature film début with Berkshire County. The Canadian film maker has made a name for herself with her celebrated short films and launches the next chapter of her career with a throwback to the babysitter-in-peril films that sparked her love of horror stories.

Kylie Winters, a bullied and self-loathing teen, reluctantly agrees to babysit two children at an isolated country mansion on Halloween night. When a mute boy in a pig mask appears at the door trick-or-treating, Kylie’s night transforms from the mundane into a horrifying and violent cat-and-mouse game, hunted by three deranged butchers through the maze-like estate. Forced to confront her own cowardice, Kylie must go beyond what she ever thought possible if she and the children are to survive until help arrives.

Alysa King stars as Kylie and won Best Actress awards from Blood in the Snow Canadian Film Festival and HorrorQuest Film Festival. The film also won awards for best director and best feature film from L.A.’s Shriekfest in 2014. Berkshire County finishes off its successful festival run by screening on June 3rd at Landmark Cinemas (including locations in Hamilton and London) as part of the Canadian Indie Film Series before beginning a limited theatrical run in Toronto, Whitby and Ottawa on Friday, June 5th.

Berkshire County is rated 14A.
