Bell investigating why time changed on some customers’ smartphones

Bell says it is investigating after many consumers woke up to find the incorrect time on their smartphones Monday morning.

Many users reported online that the time on their smartphones went back an hour overnight.

The glitch comes less than a week before Ontarians are set to turn their clocks back to mark the end of Daylight Savings Time on Nov. 7.

In a tweet posted around 7:40 a.m., Bell confirmed that some clients may have experienced the issue and said its teams were working on investigating the situation.

While some users did not experience the error, many Bell customers – including a woman from Nova Scotia – posted online that they were affected by the issue.

Shortly before 9 a.m., the company said the problem had been resolved but it did not provide any detail on what caused the glitch.

“If the correct time does not appear, you may need to reboot your phone, go on airplane mode,” said Bell Support on Twitter.
