Auchmar Estate ownership

The city of Hamilton will retain ownership of Auchmar Estate. The majority of city councillors voted to try and lease the property at the corner of West 5th and Fennel Avenue, but the public will still own it.

The heritage property needs about $8 million in work before it opens to the public. There are proposals to turn Auchmar into a conference centre, museum, brew pub and public park, but so far, there’s no committed cash.
