At least 64 people are dead after a Wednesday morning crash between two trains in central Spain.

In the province of Toledo, a high-speed train slammed into another train that stopped in central Spain, derailing two cars.

The regional president of Castilla La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, said the death toll could rise as at least 80 others were injured.

This crash comes nine months after an accident between high-speed trains belonging to the same operators on the same line that killed 46 people.

Around 100 Madrid emergency personnel are responding to the crash.

The accident involved trains from Spain’s state-owned RENFE and the private company IRYO.
