Assault charges dropped against Bieber

Assault charges against Justin Bieber have been dropped.

The charges stemmed from an incident with a limo driver in Toronto last December. They’ve been withdrawn by the crown, because there’s no reasonable chance of a conviction. Bieber’s lawyer Brian Greenspan says he’s pleased with the decision, and maintains Bieber had nothing to do with an assault: “it’s our belief that nobody assaulted the driver. There is a continuing debate, but our position is no one associated with Mr. Bieber ever came into any illegal contact with the driver. That’s always been our position. And our position has been that this charge did not have merit and certainly it’s now public that it had no merit against Mr. Bieber.”

Last week, Bieber was charged with assault and dangerous driving following a crash between an ATV and a minivan his lawyers say was driven by paparazzi. Bieber was also given 2 years probation in July after accepting a plea deal over an egging incident involving an L.A. neighbour’s home.
