Arrest warrant issued in relation to an arson in Welland

An arrest warrant has been issued for Ronald M. Smith in relation to an arson that happened at a home on Duncan Street in Welland on October 9th.

Smith is described as 6’2, 165 pounds with a slender build. He has brown eyes, brown hair, and a shooting star tattoo under his right eye. Niagara police say that Smith has no fixed address but he has ties to Welland.

The fire started in the vehicle that was parked in the home’s driveway around 12:30 a.m. When the fire department arrived they were able to enter the home and get the four residents and family dog to safety. No one was injured as a result.

The arrest warrant for Smith is for the alleged criminal offense of “Arson – Disregard for Human Life”.
