Application to be made for Labour Day game

Ticat fans should have a better idea early next week if the new Tim Hortons Field will be ready by Labour Day.

On Monday, an application is expected to be filed with the city’s building department requesting partial occupancy to allow the game between Toronto and Hamilton to be played at the new stadium.

After the request is filed, city staff will visit the site and begin the process to determine if it is safe enough to host the game.

Lloyd Ferguson, Chair of Pan Am subcommittee: “Everybody’s trying. Nobody is playing the blame game as I explained to you last week when I took a tour. It’s all about making it life ready which means fire, board of health, and particular the building certifying that it’s safe. And decommissioning it as a construction site, taking it up and allowing it to be occupied.”

Ferguson says he hasn’t visited the site since last week but is giving it a 75 percent chance of being ready for the Labour Day Classic.
