Animal rights activist in court

There was a judicial pre-trial court date today for Anita Krajnc, the animal rights activist who was charged with mischief after she gave water to pigs being trucked to a Burlington slaughterhouse. Another date was set for May 10th – on this date the August trial dates should be confirmed.
Krajnc is being charged in relation to an incident that occurred on a hot day in June. Krajnc says that when the truck stopped at a traffic light she used water bottles to give the pigs a drink through slats in the trailer. She calls the charges she is facing outrageous, insisting she did nothing wrong by giving the thirsty pigs a drink. The truck driver claims that Krajnc’s actions presented a safety hazard.
