Animal cruelty charge

A Burlington animal control officer and a city resident each face five counts of animal cruelty.

The Hamilton-Burlington SPCA says it received a phone tip about a horse in distress.

On arrival, they found the animal was extremely emaciated and unable to stand.

A veterinarian checked out the horse and determined it should be euthanized.

The first court appearance for Officer Patricia Edge and Stephen Bellamy is June 18th.
