American Hustle

David O. Russell’s American Hustle follows a pair of professional con artists recruited by the FBI and forced to infiltrate the world of power brokers, politicians and mobsters in 1970s New Jersey. American Hustle might just have the best ensemble cast we’ve seen all year with Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Renner.

Hustle is the third film by Russel after he says he changed the way he thought about filmmaking and began shooting stories based on fractured characters attempting to repair their lives.  The change has certainly worked out for the director, he has directed 7 actors to Oscar nominations in his last two film, The Fighter and Silver Linings Playbook. A number that is sure to rise as his newest looks like a tour de force by a group of major talents; the cast received a SAG award nomination for best ensemble while Lawrence got a Supporting Actress nod .

The film was adapted by Russell from a script written by Edward Warren Singer.  Originally titled American BS, the script was number 8 on the Blacklist in 2010.
