The Allanburg Bridge in Thorold is set to be closed this week to pedestrian and vehicular traffic for both construction and preventative maintenance work.

The closure is a scheduled portion of the Highway 20 Bridge replacement project being led by the Niagara Region.

The new bridge will serve as a major corridor for moving goods, vehicles, residents and tourists.

Given the scheduled closure, the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation will additionally be conducting preventive maintenance to “minimize any future inconvenience to the public.”

The bridge will reopen to all traffic at 5 p.m. on Friday.
