3 charged in luxury car fraud across southern Ontario: Halton police

Three people have been charged in connection with a luxury vehicle fraud scheme carried out at dealerships across southern Ontario.

Halton police say they launched an investigation into a group of individuals who had been impersonating representatives from a legitimate luxury vehicle retailer.

Officers say the group attended several dealerships in the Greater Toronto Area where they were able to frequently obtain high-end vehicles.

It was through the sophistication of the scam and the “exceptional quality” of the documents used that allowed the fraud to extend through the southern part of the province, according to police.

“Project Luxe” began an extensive investigation into the highly-organized group that led to the successful identification of members involved and established connections to a broader distribution network.

The vehicles recovered in the project are estimated to collectively be valued at $1.6 million. Among those recovered were a 2023 Maybach GLS600, a 2020 Lamborghini Urus, a 2021 Ferrari F8 Spider, a 2023 Porche 911 Turbo, a 2017 Mercedes E400 and a 2021 Dodge Durango.

This month, search warrants were carried out throughout the GTA that led to the discovery of evidence that police say linked the accused to the alleged offenses.

Enoch Johnson, 40, of Mississauga, Ahmad Amiri, 29, of Oakville and Issac Osunde Iyamu, 27, of no fixed address have now been charged with fraud and possession related offences.
