Alectra reports widespread power outage in Hamilton Monday morning

A rough start to the week for many in Hamilton as a widespread power outage hit just in time for the morning commute.
At its height, the outage affected close to 50,000 customers in the city.

Alectra says a supply problem from Hydro One was to blame.
Not all homes and businesses in the red zone were affected by the outage.
This caused some chaos as some students across Hamilton returned to class for their first day of school.

Alectra says power was fully restored just before noon.
