76-year-old man dies following two-vehicle crash in Halton Hills

Halton police say a man from Georgetown has died following a two-vehicle crash.

Officers say they responded to a crash at the intersection of Trafalgar and 17 Side Road Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, early reports indicate that the man was travelling westbound in a Ford Taurus when he attempted to turn left onto Trafalgar Road, crossing in front of a northbound Mazda CX5.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital but later died as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the Mazda, a 64-year-old woman from Acton, was also transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

While the investigation remains ongoing, police say that initial information indicates that the northbound Mazda had the right of way at the signalized intersection.

Authorities say that the crash was witnessed by numerous people who remained on the scene and administered aid to the two drivers.

The intersection remained closed until 8 p.m.
