York Regional Police say six suspects are in custody and others are wanted after a daylight ‘smash-and-grab’ robbery at a Markham jewellery store Wednesday afternoon.

Video circulating online shows suspects armed with hammers smashing the glass at the front of Lukfook Jewellery located on CF Markville mall’s lower level.

The mall is on McCowan Road near Highway 7.

Some of the suspects attempted to flee the area in a Honda Civic and collided into the back of another car at a nearby intersection.

A police foot-pursuit then took place.

Six suspects were arrested in the mall, and officers say six others are still on the run.

Police have charged two men and four teenaged boys following their arrests.

At least 10 suspects can be seen in video footage of the robbery.

No injuries were reported and it is not yet known what was stolen from the store.
