56-year-old man charged with first-degree murder in Lincoln

Niagara police have charged a 56-year-old man from Lincoln with first-degree murder following a call to a residential home in the area Wednesday morning.
There was a heavy police presence seen at Victoria Avenue and First Avenue in the Vineland area just after 9:30 a.m.
Niagara police say they located a woman’s body on the property nearly three hours later at 12:20 p.m.
Though the identity of the victim and the accused will not be released at this time as police say this incident involves intimate partner violence and they want to protect the identity of the family, they have confirmed the accused is the ex-partner of the victim.

Police were seen at both the Peach Country Farm Market and a home right beside the market.
Neighbours say the couple who were living at the home were paramedics and that just over a week ago, they noticed a for sale sign go up on the property.
Multiple units were used during the search including members from the emergency task unit, canine unit and marine unit.
Niagara police’s homicide unit has now assumed carriage of the investigation, and residents in the area can expect a continued police presence.
