2 dead and 2 wounded in Hamilton hotel shooting

Hamilton Police Major Crime Unit is investigating a multiple shooting on Barton St. East in Hamilton that left two people dead and two others injured.

Police say they were called to Sam’s Hotel and Tavern on Barton St. shortly after 5 a.m.

A 39-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were pronounced dead in hospital this morning, 2 others are now in stable condition.

Friends have identified the woman who was killed as Rhonda Homsombath.

Police say the group at the Urban Lounge bar was previously at a memorial remembering the life of a 2019 murder victim.

No arrests are made and no suspect description has been given.

Traffic is restricted on Barton St. East at Sherman and Birch due to investigation.
