14-year-old boy killed in hit-and-run in Norfolk County

Ontario Provincial Police in Norfolk County are searching for a vehicle after a 14-year-old boy was killed Wednesday when he was struck while walking along the road.

OPP say the 14-year-old boy from Norfolk County was walking on Fairground Road near the locality of Cultus shortly before 5:30 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle.

He was taken to hospital with severe, life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.

Police say the vehicle fled the scene after striking the 14-year-old boy and the public should be on the lookout for a dark-coloured or grey pickup truck with noticeable damage on the front right corner.

Anyone with dash cameras driving on Fairground Road between 5th Concession Road ENR and 6th Concession Road ENR from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. is asked to contact police if they see anything suspicious in their footage.

A section of Fairground Road was closed for several hours while police investigated, and it has since reopened.
