A Hamilton man has gone above and beyond to help a young boy whose Christmas present was stolen the day after Christmas.

12 year old Jakob and his little sister Jessika couldn’t contain their excitement when they woke up Christmas morning. Two brand new bikes were waiting there right beside the Christmas tree. But as Jakob’s mother tells us that joy and happiness turned to devastation when Jakob’s bike was stolen the next day.

“We were really hurt because it was the first time me and my boyfriend were able to buy them brand new bikes like right out of the store. So we were pretty upset and he was really upset too. He was a mess.”

That’s were Lee Robbins comes in. He saw the story posted on Facebook after Jamie’s sister shared the story.  The father of 2 eight year old’s himself, Lee wanted to use this experience to teach his own son a lesson.

“I was trying to explain to him how important it is to help others. If we can make somebody happy then why wouldn’t we do that? and I said I think it’s important that you realize and see this and that’s why your coming to help me.”

Now that Lee has brought Jakob and his sister bike locks, Jakob tells us he won’t make that mistake again.

*Update:  Jakob’s mother says the missing bike has been found. Jamie tells CHCH news her son plans to pay it forward by giving the extra  bike to another little boy who deserves it.
