Brantford man arrested for ATM thefts and arson in Hamilton

First Published:

Hamilton police have arrested a 24-year-old Brantford man and charged him with 34 criminal offences including thefts and arson in the Hamilton area.

On February 28, police were called to Gas Trac on Barton St. for a vehicle fire inside one of the car wash bays. The fully engulfed fire caused significant damage to the business.

Three days later, on March 3 shortly after 1 a.m., a witness saw a truck attempting to steal an ATM machine from inside the EZ Mart on Barton St. E. The pick-up truck reversed through the front doors and caused significant damage to the store.

Police identified the male as Ben Curley and linked him to other offences involving stolen vehicles, stealing gas and criminal driving offences. Hamilton police are now working with Niagara and Brantford police to connect Curley to other offences which appear similar.
