As if we haven’t had enough of winter already…
Yesterday afternoon it was snow, then rain. Now flooding is creating havoc on the roads and headaches for some homeowners.
Dozens of residents along Lakeshore Road in Haldimand woke up this morning to water up to their decks. They had to bring in equipment to shovel it out.
Giant snow drifts were melting into their houses; farmers’ fields turned into lakes overnight.
One house in West Lincoln is surrounded by water.
“There was snow and then rain and back to sleet and I don’t know what else. It’s crazy, but we’re in Canada.”
Driving wasn’t easy. puddles were deep. some roads had to be closed.
“We had to drive from St Catharines to Beamsville. It wasn’t very nice.”
About 30 millimetres of rain fell overnight in Southern Ontario. With all the melting this water has no where to go.
The concern now is a flash freeze. Driving through water may
be hazardous; driving on ice, much worse.
This is a winter, with no end in sight.
“We live in Canada, but I think people are fed up right now.”
