The woman who lost her monkey in an Ikea parking lot is about to be hit with a big bill.
A judge has ruled that Yasmin Nakhuda needs to cover the legal costs of the primate sanctuary she sued. That’s over $80,000 – on top of her own legal fees.
The woman lost ownership of Darwin the monkey when he escaped from her car in December of 2012. After Darwin was sent to Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary, Nakhuda sued to try and get him back.
Even though the sanctuary’s lawyer worked pro bono, the court still decided that he deserved some reimbursement from the losing side.
