Ice Wine worries

While many people aren’t complaining about the lack of cold weather recently, some grape growers in Niagara are anxiously waiting for sub zero tempuratures.

Grapes used to make Ice Wines are traditionally left on the vine until temperatures reach minus 8 degrees and while growers at Pilliteri Estates say their grapes are typically ready by January 15th.

With this year’s mild temperatures, it will mean the harvest will have to wait.

Despite this delay in harvesting, buyers shouldn’t see a hike in prices for Ice Wines any time soon.
