Halton police are investigating a string of suspicious fires that have happened over the last month.

Halton police say a 300, 000 dollar fire that happened at a storage barn on Dundas Street West earlier this week is the latest in a string of suspicious fires in Oakville.

Huge orange flames and thick smoke could be seen for several kilometres coming from this building near St. Volodymyr’s cultural centre Tuesday night. The building was ultimately reduced to ashes. Police still aren’t sure how the fire started but the Ontario fire marshal is investigating. This is just one of more than half a dozen suspicious fires in North West Oakville in the last month. Including an historic farmhouse and a large shed in Bronte Provincial Park. As well as smaller fires at two separate construction sites where equipment was damaged and at a playground.

Police believe some of these fires may be related because they happened close to each other and in the evening hours. Halton police are working with OPP, Oakville fire and the Ontario fire marshal. They don’t have any suspects right now but want people to keep an eye out because they say this is unusual.
