Man charged in crash on Paramount Drive out on bail

The 25-year-old Hamilton man charged in a deadly crash on Paramount Drive last month was in court on Tuesday, after turning himself in to police. Dave Megna faces several drunk driving charges, including impaired driving causing death, he was released on a $10,000 bail.

He was emotional while in court for his bail hearing, he did not say anything other than agreeing to the bail conditions. He had short hair and was wearing a light blue sweater with dark pants. He appeared to have an issue with his jaw as he kept opening and closing his mouth.

He was seriously hurt in the crash that happened September 4th and spent several weeks in hospital. Police say he had about three times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood when his BMW lost control and swerved into the other lane crashing into an oncoming minivan. The 48-year-old man driving the van was seriously hurt.

The passenger in Megna’s BMW was 22-year-old Tyler Torres, he was killed in the crash.

Megna will be back in court on November 24th.
