Street Soccer tournament in Hamilton

This weekend kids from Hamilton will be taking part in a “street soccer” tournament in Gage Park. The 4 day tournament kicked off yesterday, but Adam Atkinson caught up with a couple of the players today.

200 Hamilton kids are showing off their soccer skills during the ‘Viva Pan Am” junior soccer celebration. Its a 4 day tournament leading into the Pan Am Games.

11 year old Harrison Etchells moved from England 2 years ago, and he brought his passion for “footy” with him. He says this “street soccer” tournament gives him a chance to play with other young soccer fanatics. “Getting to know other kids, playing with kids your ability and better. Show off what you know how to do.”

Street soccer is different than normal soccer. It emphasizes skill and ball handling.
