Peel garbage collectors on strike

Private garbage collectors in Peel are on strike after a new agreement could not be reached before the midnight deadline.

On Wednesday, talks between the Laborers International Union of North America and Emterra Waste Management broke down.

The strike will affect more than 160,000 homes, including large sections of Mississauga, Brampton and all of Caledon.

The Region of Peel’s website suggest resident should consider dropping off their waste at a community recycling centres. Hours will be extended and residential disposal fees will not apply for garbage, recycling, and yard waste.
