Man killed in tractor-trailer collision on 401 in Milton

A man is dead following a collision between two tractor-trailers in the westbound lanes of the 401 at Trafalgar Rd. in Milton. Police were called to the scene just before midnight on Tuesday night, after one tractor-trailer rear-ended another. The driver of the truck that rear-ended the other was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not yet been identified. The other truck driver suffered only minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says it appears one of the trucks was slowing down for construction ahead on the roadway when it was rear-ended. A third vehicle was also involved, sustaining minor damage from debris, the driver of that vehicle was not injured.

The westbound lanes of the 401 at Trafalgar Rd. were closed for several hours for the cleanup and police investigation. The highway has since fully reopened.
