A sentencing hearing for the man who opened fire in the Eaton Centre in 2012 happening Thursday.
Christopher Husbands says post-traumatic-stress-disorder prompted him to attack the crowded food court at the Toronto mall.
Husbands was found guilty of manslaughter earlier this year.
A jury also found him guilty of a number of other charges including five counts of aggravated assault and reckless discharge of a firearm in the shooting.
Husbands was facing second-degree murder, but his lawyers argued he should be found not criminally responsible due to mental illness.
His sentencing hearing is taking place June 27.
