Ontario reports 1,009 new COVID-19 cases, 14 deaths

Ontario is reporting 1,009 new cases of COVID-19 and 14 deaths.

But the province’s says the number of new cases reported on Tuesday is an underestimate because of a technical issue, which also resulted in an overestimate of cases in Monday’s report.

According to the Ministry of Health, Monday’s report reflected more than 24-hours worth of data.

“Due to technical issues, instead of cases up until 12 p.m. on November 22, yesterday’s report contained cases reported in CCM up until 8:30 p.m. on November 22,” said a statement.

Ontario is reporting 1,009 cases of #COVID19. Locally, there are 497 new cases in Toronto, 175 in Peel and 118 in York Region. There are 1,082 more resolved cases and nearly 27,100 tests completed.

Here’s how the numbers break down in our region:

Haldimand-Norfolk: 2 new cases, 38 active cases

Brant: 8 new cases, 69 active cases, 2 in hospital

Halton: 28 new cases, 570 active cases, 19 in hospital

Niagara: 23 new cases, 215 active cases, 2 in hospital

Hamilton: 26 new cases, 337 active cases, 3 deaths, 23 in hospital

There were 27,053 tests completed.

The number of active known cases of COVID-19 is 12,917.

The death toll is now 3,519 with nearly 64 per cent of those deaths in residents of long-term care homes.

There are 534 patients in hospital with the virus. There are 159 in intensive care, while 91 of those are on ventilators.

Another 1,082 cases were marked as resolved. Overall, nearly 85 per cent of COVID-19 cases are resolved.
