Ontario reports 213 new cases of COVID-19, no new deaths

Ontario is reporting 213 new cases of COVID-19, the highest one-day jump since the end of June.

Once again, Toronto and Peel lead the province in new cases with 71 reported in Toronto and 38 in Peel, according to Minister of Health Christine Elliott.

Ontario is reporting 213 cases of #COVID19 with over 32,500 tests completed. Locally, 26 PHUs are reporting five or fewer cases with 18 reporting no new cases. There are 71 cases in Toronto, with 38 in Peel and 37 in Ottawa. 67% of today’s cases are in people under the age of 40.

After seeing daily new case totals drop to double digits for a time in August, Ontario has seen triple-digit case increases for over two weeks now.

Meanwhile, Ontario’s new COVID-19 website for schools is reporting two cases in Oakville.

One is at St. Marguerite d’Youville Catholic Elementary School and the other is Oodeenawi Public School.

Both positive tests are in staff members.

Numbers released Friday show the province completed 32,501 tests.

No new deaths were reported and another 124 cases have been marked as resolved.

There are 1,657 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

The number of patients in hospital has dropped from 54 to 49. 18 people are in ICU, which is up four from the previous day’s report. The number of patients on a ventilator remains steady at nine.
